The days of long warm nights
growing shorter each day with 8pm
still darkness with the
orange harvest moon standing
bright and high over our
house.
Waking up to cool crisp mornings
that lead into warm sunny afternoons.
Yellow, amber and orange leaves flutter
down onto the ground leaving a blanket
of crunchy leaves to walk upon.
Warm afternoons lead into refreshing
chilly nights.
Taking long evening walks wrapping yourself in a chunky sweater. You can smell the woodsmoke in the air. To me that's the absolute essence of Autumn.
Coming home chilled to a warm cup of hot cocoa with peppermint. mmm!
We love driving up to the Beartooth Mountains and spending the afternoon driving on the old roads taking in all the beautiful fall foliage. We spend the afternoon there. We pack hot chocolate for the kids and something special for us. We bring warm bread baked with ham and cheese in it. Slice it up and ooh it's delicious! We walk along the river and play like our own kids do. The girls gather special rocks for their collections and enjoy the last remaining few Monarchs dancing through the air on the brink of Mexico bound.
On really chilly days I love making
making hot apple cider and cookies
for the kids to come home to. They
walk (most days) to and from school
by the time they are home, they are chilled
and starved! It seems to make them really
happy. It gives them a strong sense of
security and love from home. They know
that I love them and care. They know
that their home is their comfort and the
one true place they can relish in.

Spend these beautiful Fall days blessing the ones you love.
Use words of endearment and love. Bake a delicious pumpkin pie for them for Sunday dinner.
Wrap your kid's school lunch sandwiches with strips of paper that say things like "I love You" and "You Rock!"
Prepare a delicious stew in the crock pot. That way when your family arrive home after a long day of work and school they can be greeted with the warm goodness of a home cooked meal waiting for them.
Going out of our way and doing just a little bit more for the ones we love is important. Your family knows that their mama is busy and tired. But to continue in finding ways to be a blessing and not a complaint sergeant makes them appreciate what you do even more.
"If mama ain't happy, no one is"
This statement is so true! I can't begin to stress to you the times (which have been many) when I was in a fit over something and took it out on my family just because I was upset.
But we don't have to!
It's important to take care of ourselves so we can be better not bitter. Try spend time in His word daily. Nourishing our hearts with his goodness. Being thankful for the blessings we have each day. Look around at all the beauty this season has to offer. He is love and surrounds our everyday. Moment by moment... Living our life in season. This season... Autumn.
Open the door to change and let His love take hold! You won't regret it.
HAPPY HARVEST!
